Does Walmart Mislabel Non Organic Food as Organic?
The Cornucopia Institute » Mislabeling Organic Food at Wal-Mart
This is a series of pictures showing how everyones friendly retail giant, Walmart, mislabels natural and conventional food as organic.
I am sure many stores do this - not just Walmart.
Please take the time and read the labels of the food you eat. And if you can, but from a local farmer’s market and talk to the producer!

How to Lose Weight - the Organic Way!
The only GUARANTEED way to lose weight is a simple 3 step process.
1. Eat less.
Put less calories in your mouth. Yes, it is that simple. A great thing for those of us in North America is that to reduce our calories all we need to do is stop eating fast food or processed food (and since this is Easter weekend, don’t eat candy!!) So many of the calories people take in are completely wasted empty calories that are put in junk foods to make them taste better ( or to give them flavor). Think of your diet over the past week, how many empty calories do you take in this week? How many hours of exercise is it going to take to get rid of them?
2. Exercise more.
Move your legs. Use your arms. Get your heart pumping. Breathe heavy.
Reduce your calories, but you also should make your body a better calorie burner. Every exercise not only burns calories, but it also changes your body. In fact, it TRANSFORMS your body. Exercise makes your body a better calorie burner.
Yes, it is hard. Yes, it sometimes does not feel very fun. Push yourself, get off the couch, and make your body better.
3. Change your lifestyle.
Don’t do this for a day. Don’t do this for a week. Don’t do this for a month. Make it your new life.

How to Teach your Baby to be a Physically Superb
All of us parents would like to do our best in helping our littles ones to learn and experience life to the fullest. Some of us have more time than others. Being at home full time, gives me a chance to check out what’s out their for challenging our children.
I found an interesting set of books and bought most of them (a bit crazy maybe….but I love to read). They were put out by The Institute for the Achievement of Human Potential www.iahp.org or www.gentlerevolution.com
I’m working my way through the book; How To Teach Your Baby To Be Physically Superb: From Birth To Age Six; The Gentle Revolution. This book centers on helping parents believe that children are far more capable than we give them credit for. It offers ideas on how to create an environment that will help the baby (or child from birth to about 6 years) achieve each stage of mobility more easily.
Interesting to me was the idea that newborns move a great deal in their sleep. You know what it’s like to find your baby scrunched against the headboard of the crib/bed. Well, given the opportunity to be in a crawling track, day or night, a baby would able to practice it’s crawling skills and still be close enough to check on and nurse. Newborns are able to crawl a total of one foot the first day after birth, a total of two feet the second day, a total of ten feet the tenth day, and so on.
Why is movement or crawling so important? What’s the big deal?
The answer to that coming soon…

Music, Like Good Food…. Good for the Body, Good for the Soul
We chose to investigate the Suzuki Method of learning to play music, and are so
happy at the results we see. Three of our six children are taking Suzuki lessons.
Our 5 year old son Francis and our 9 year old daughter Therese are studying violin.
Liam, our 11 year old son is learning the Suzuki Method of playing the guitar.
The kids know exactly what is coming next for them in terms of what they will have
to play because each day they are expected to listen to a CD of each of the songs
listed in their Suzuki book. They have become so familiar with their songs that they
know very quickly when they have hit an incorrect note.
It is parent intensive, but worth the time and effort, as one can see the relationships
grow as a result of time spent together. Even parents are encouraged to play along
with their children, if so desired. And this Momma bit-the-bullet, dusted off the old
heirloom violin in the basement and joined along in playing the violin. Therese is able
to memorize her songs quicker than her mother, but this momma has maybe a bit
better tone, we’ll see….
For more information on the Suzuki method check out the entry at wikipedia. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Suzuki_method.

Organic Foods - Who Makes them?
Who makes your organic food?
While these companies have gone a long way to making organic food more inexpensive by mass producing their products, you have to ask the question what has been lost in the process.
Have the standards been watered down?
Have the organic integrity of the products been compromised?
Just a few things for you to think about…
Remember … buy local, buy fresh, and buy organic. Don’t skip the first two principles and focus on the third.
